Our OPITO HERTL (7042) course is specifically designed for those who will be taking on the role of Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader (HERTL) on offshore installations. This training provides a comprehensive introduction to the responsibilities and challenges faced by a HERTL, ensuring participants gain the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to manage helideck and helicopter emergencies effectively. Through realistic emergency scenarios that include exposure to real smoke and fire, delegates will learn to lead a Helideck Emergency Response Team and coordinate a safe and efficient response during critical incidents.
The OPITO HERTL (7042) course is suitable for personnel preparing to step into a leadership role in helideck emergency response. For those planning to work in the UK sector, it is important to note that a valid and in-date Radio Operators Certificate of Competence (ROCC) is required for entry into the training, but this applies only to UKCS operations. If there are no immediate plans to work in UK waters, this certificate is not necessary for participation. Our training is structured to meet OPITO standards and ensures that all delegates are well-prepared for the demands of helideck emergency response leadership.
