This course is ideal for participants who have obtained their BHV or EHV certification from a Dutch organization within the past 12 months, provided the training was not completed solely online. The training is conducted in Dutch and takes place over two days at our FMTC Dordrecht location in the Netherlands. This course can also be provided in English on request. For more information, please contact info@fmtcsafety.com
Completing this course is a mandatory step before starting work on an inland vessel. During the training, participants will gain essential knowledge about rescue equipment, firefighting equipment, specific working conditions, and the application of basic first aid on board inland waterway vessels. Upon successful completion, participants receive a CBR-recognized certificate that is valid for two years. This certificate, together with a valid medical examination, enables participants to apply for a logbook with the EU qualification ‘Deckhand’ in accordance with CESNI standards and EU directive 2017/2397.
To enroll, participants must be at least 16 years old, demonstrate proficiency in Dutch, and hold a BHV or EHV certificate not older than 12 months, which was not obtained solely online. While a medical examination for inland shipping is recommended, it is not mandatory. Those with valid BHV or EHV certificates are exempt from certain components of the training, but must still complete at least 14 hours over two days. Our course ensures that all participants are fully prepared for the unique safety challenges of working on inland vessels.
