Our STCW Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boat Refresher course is designed for seafarers who are assigned to operate or crew fast rescue boats on vessels such as offshore support vessels, tankers, ferries, and large passenger ships. This training is mandatory under the STCW Convention for those designated to man or operate fast rescue boats, ensuring participants maintain the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively in emergency situations at sea.
The course is fully approved by the national flagstate and meets the requirements of STCW Regulation VI/2, Paragraph 2 and Section A-VI/2-2. Upon successful completion, participants receive an internationally recognized STCW certificate, valid for five years from the expiry date of the previous certificate. The refresher is required every five years, especially if there has been limited recent hands-on experience with fast rescue boats.
To enroll, participants must present a valid ID or passport, a medical certificate, swimming gear, a seafarer’s book, and certificates for Basic Training (BST), Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB), as well as the original Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats (PFRB). Eligibility for the refresher is based on holding a valid Certificate of Competency or proof of recent sea service as specified by the STCW requirements. All documentation must be verified by our customer support team prior to registration.
Assessment includes both theoretical and practical components, with certification awarded upon successful completion. This ensures that all participants are fully prepared to launch, operate, recover, and maintain fast rescue boats in both calm and challenging conditions, in compliance with international maritime standards.
