The STCW Advanced Fire Fighting course is designed for seafarers who are responsible for leading and coordinating firefighting operations on board ships, as mandated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This training is essential for deck and engineering officers, as well as any crew members designated to control firefighting operations. The course builds on basic firefighting knowledge and focuses on advanced techniques, leadership, and emergency management, ensuring participants are fully prepared to take command during onboard fire emergencies.
Our training follows the requirements set out in STCW Regulation VI/3 and Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code, as well as IMO Model Course 2.03. Participants will learn how to organize and command firefighting teams, implement fire prevention measures, inspect and maintain fire detection and extinguishing systems, conduct fire investigations, and effectively control and extinguish fires on board. The course is approved by the national flagstate and recognized globally, making it a critical step for anyone seeking to obtain or renew a Certificate of Competency.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate that is valid for five years. A refresher course is required if the certificate expires. The training includes practical exercises such as live fire scenarios and fire team coordination, ensuring that all participants gain hands-on experience in managing real-life emergencies. This course is a vital requirement for those with direct responsibility for firefighting operations, including deck officers, engine officers, and anyone assigned to lead or coordinate fire response on board.
