The Plant Manager/Incident Commander Initial Response Training provides formal training for personnel involved in the management of major emergency situations.
The course is particularly relevant for personnel who are progressing through a training and competence programme towards the role of Plant Manager or Incident Commander.
During the training, participants develop an understanding of how to prepare for, respond to and maintain control during the development or escalation of an emergency. They learn how to manage communications, process emergency-related information and implement predetermined emergency plans from the moment an alarm is raised until the incident has been brought under control.
The programme also addresses the effect that stress can have on decision-making, individual performance and team performance during emergency situations.
A significant part of the training consists of practical emergency scenarios. Participants are given the opportunity to act as the Plant Manager/Incident Commander in different simulated emergency situations. Each scenario is followed by structured feedback and debriefing from the instructional team.
