Our OPITO OIM CE (7025) Online course is designed for Offshore Installation Managers who need to demonstrate their competence in controlling emergencies on offshore installations. This remote assessment ensures that candidates are fully prepared to lead a well-trained Emergency Management Team during major incidents, using their own facility’s procedures and asset type knowledge. The assessment is conducted entirely online, using a simulator that mirrors the delegate’s specific asset and emergency procedures. After booking, candidates receive pre-assessment documentation and will be scheduled for their assessment by our partner, Wild Geese Group. For those who prefer an in-person experience, we also offer the OPITO OIM CE live assessment at our premises.
This is an assessment-only process, so candidates must already possess a thorough understanding of core essential knowledge areas, including emergency response procedures, installation hardware, critical information for escalation, and human factors such as stress and decision-making. A formal declaration from the employer is required to confirm the candidate’s readiness and asset-specific knowledge. The assessment involves a series of simulated emergency scenarios, observed and evaluated by a qualified assessor, to ensure the candidate meets all OPITO standards for emergency leadership.
Upon successful completion, candidates receive an OPITO certificate confirming their competence to lead during emergencies. While there is no formal expiry date for the certificate, it is recommended that reassessment occurs at least every three years. To participate, candidates must have access to reliable computer hardware, a professional environment, and be familiar with Zoom and the Trident Virtual Command Centre simulator.
