Emergency Medical Responder – Initial

To successfully complete the Emergency Medical Responder – Initial training, participants must achieve a minimum score of 70% on the course exam and pass the psychomotor skills assessment. This ensures comprehensive understanding and practical proficiency in emergency medical response.

Course Design

The course combines PowerPoint presentations, interactive lectures, audio/video aids, textbook study, demonstrations, and practical exercises.

• Introduction to EMS Systems, Legal & Ethics, Wellness & Safety
• Medical Terminology, Pathophysiology, Airway Management
• Practical skills: O₂ Administration, Vital Signs Monitoring

• Review and practice skills from Day 1

• Lectures on Oxygen Therapy, Patient Assessment, Medical and Environmental Emergencies
• Practical skills: Medical Assessment & AED use

Day 3

• Review and practice skills from Day 2
• Exam #2
• Lectures on Soft-Tissue Injuries, Shock, Bone and Head Injuries
• Practical skills: Trauma Assessment

Day 4

• Lectures on Pregnancy, Pediatrics, Geriatrics
