The STCW Basic Safety Training Fishery is intended for all crew members sailing on a seagoing fishing vessel. The STCW Basic Safety Training is extended with half a day of safety for fishing. This certificate is mandatory for all seafarers on a fishing vessel that has to comply with the requirements in Article 44 Decree on Sea Vessel Crew.
Various fishing machines and tools are used on fishing vessels to fish and process the fish. This is not without risks. During the module Fishery Safety the delegates learn how to deal with all the work on a fishing vessel. By being aware of all risks and dangers, accidents at work can be prevented.

Since 2017 your certificate may not be older than 5 years. After 5 years you need to do the STCW Basic Safety Training Refresher. Your STCW Fishery certificated has no expiry.
